Visiting the Bruderhof

The Bruderhof community consists of a unique group of people including families and single individuals. This community built the foundation of their beliefs in the 1920Â’s when a young group of people decided they wanted to live a better life after the war. After the war these young men and women sought to put together a community of people who lived by a different standard than the rest of the world. They began to enrich themselves with verses out of the Bible and molded their beliefs after those of the early Christians. This is what truly made the Bruderhof community and gave them their firm belief to love their neighbor as themselves.

Although created almost one hundred years, the bruderhof community continues to strive in the every day world. They can be found in several different locations across the globe, with a large majority of the communities located in the United States. Most of the communities will be found in rural areas where the individuals of the sect can manage their own farms and small community that tries to help the environment as much as possible; however there are also communities of Bruderhof people found in big cities including New York City and London. No matter where the community is located they still adhere to the same rules.

While most sects will not allow visitors, such as a majority of the Amish communities, the Bruderhof work a bit differently and will allow the outside world to visit their towns. In fact, it is believed that the Bruderhof enjoy having outside visitors as they like to show their way of living and try to help everyone that comes their way. (more...)
